Inspection evidence to issued report

Damp reporting software that finishes the report before you leave.

The inspection is the part surveyors are good at. The report is the part that takes the evening. DampApp Pro carries the readings, photographs, room findings and recommendations you already recorded straight into structured, editable wording and a signed PDF, on the device, at the property.

What the document has to carry

A damp report is a chain of reasoning, not a form

A reader has to be able to follow you from what you were asked to do, through what you saw and measured, to what you concluded and what you recommend. Reporting software earns its place by keeping that chain intact instead of flattening it into a template.

  1. 1

    Instruction and limitations

Client, property, scope, construction, weather and occupancy conditions, and what the inspection could not reach. Recorded first, so the report opens with the context a reader needs to weigh everything after it.

  2. 2

    Room-by-room findings

Observations, moisture readings, photographs and annotations held against the room or element they describe, rather than collected in an undifferentiated appendix.

  3. 3

    Analysis and competing causes

Psychrometric and condensation context alongside the readings, with room to record the explanations you considered and set aside. A report that only states a conclusion is harder to defend than one that shows the reasoning.

  4. 4

    Recommendations and costs

Proposed actions, priorities and, where you choose to include them, cost schedules, tied to the findings that justify them.

  5. 5

    Review and sign-off

Your edit of every section, then a digital signature and an issued PDF, produced on the device.

Smart Build and AI wording

A first draft from your findings, not from a blank page.

Select the materials, conditions, defects and recommendations you actually observed, preview the assembled paragraph, then insert it and edit it. When you are connected, AI assistance can suggest wording from shorthand notes. Neither writes your conclusion, and every inserted sentence stays editable.

How the AI assistance works →
  • No per-field or word-credit metering
  • Free includes monthly Smart Build report passes
  • Inserted wording stays editable and under your control

What the reporting side actually does

Reporting is where a survey either keeps its evidence or loses it. Everything here exists so the document you issue says what you found, in the order a reader can follow, without a second evening at a desk.

See the inspection workflow that feeds it →
  • Structured PDF export generated on the device
  • Photographs, annotations and floor plans placed in the report
  • Moisture readings and psychrometric context carried through
  • Smart Build first-draft wording from your own selections
  • Editable AI-assisted wording when connected
  • Damp, mould, timber decay and insect sections as the job needs
  • Recommendations, priorities and optional cost schedules
  • Digital sign-off by the surveyor who did the inspection
  • Works with no signal, from capture through to issued PDF

The surveyor signs it, and the surveyor owns it

Software can assemble evidence and propose wording. It cannot inspect a building, weigh competing explanations or take professional responsibility for a diagnosis. DampApp Pro is built on that line: the report is a draft until you have read every section, and it is yours once you sign it.

Comparing options

If you are weighing DampApp Pro against the other damp reporting tools used in the UK, we publish a side-by-side comparison with the claims taken from each vendor’s own pages, including where another product is the better fit.

Questions about damp reporting software

What is damp reporting software?

Damp reporting software turns the evidence gathered during a damp inspection into a finished, issuable report. It carries the property details, moisture readings, photographs, room observations and recommendations into structured wording and a PDF, so the report is not rebuilt by hand in a word processor afterwards.

How is it different from damp survey software?

They are two halves of the same job. Survey software is about capturing evidence correctly on site; reporting software is about producing the document that gets sent to the client. DampApp Pro does both in one record, which is why the readings you took in a bedroom appear against that room in the report rather than being re-keyed.

Does the software decide the cause of damp?

No. It organises evidence and can assist with editable report wording, but the surveyor must interpret the readings and building context, consider alternative causes, review every section and sign the final conclusion. Nothing is inserted into a report that the surveyor cannot change or delete.

Can I write damp and mould reports without a signal?

Yes. Surveys are captured and stored on the device, and the PDF is produced on the device as well, so a report can be completed in a basement, a void or a rural property with no connection. The optional AI wording assistance is the only part that needs to be online.

Can I edit the wording the software produces?

Always. Smart Build assembles a first draft from the materials, conditions, defects and recommendations you selected, and AI assistance can suggest wording when you are connected. Both are inserted as ordinary editable text. The professional judgement, the conclusion and the sign-off stay yours.

What does the finished report come out as?

A structured PDF, generated on the device, with your findings, photographs, floor plans, calculations, recommendations and digital sign-off in the order the report defines. You can produce reports on the free tier; those carry a DampApp Pro watermark, which the optional Pro subscription removes.

Can it produce damp and mould reports for social housing and Awaab’s Law work?

It supports the recording side: damp and mould observations, hazard context, indicative timeline tools and the evidence a landlord’s process depends on. It does not certify compliance on your behalf, and the responsibility for meeting a statutory duty stays with the landlord and the surveyor.
